Privacy

What Lumenvale saves about you, why, how long we keep it, and how to delete it. In plain words.

Last updated 14 September 2026 (passwords added)

The short version: you play with a pony name and a password, never your real name or email. We save what the game needs (your pony, coins, cottage, friends) and a little chat history so moderators can handle reports. No ads, no trackers, no selling anything. You can delete your pony yourself, any time.

Who runs Lumenvale

Lumenvale is a small hobby game made by Seppe and Marie, who are also its moderators. Questions about your data, or anything on this page? Use Feedback in the game (under Settings, or the Feedback button at the bottom).

Who can play

Lumenvale is for players aged 13 and older. When you make a pony you confirm that you are. If we learn that a pony belongs to someone younger, we delete it.

What is saved on our server

WhatWhyHow long
Your pony's name, how it looks, your chat setting, when it was made and last playedSo your pony exists and others can see itUntil you delete your pony
Your password and recovery code, only ever as a strongly scrambled version (scrypt, with a random salt), never the real thingSo you can log in, and nobody else canUntil you delete your pony
Login sessions: a scrambled copy of the random key that keeps your browser logged in, and when it was made and last used (up to 5 devices)So you don't have to type your password every timeUntil you log out, change your password, or 30 days without playing
Where your pony is, coins, things you bought, your cottage and furniture, baked treats, quests and findsTo keep your game going between visitsUntil you delete your pony
Your character: a title, pronouns, a short bio and your roleplay status, if you fill them in; and the ponies you blockedSo others can see who your pony is, and blocked ponies stay away from youUntil you change it, unblock them, or delete your pony
A note you pin on the notice board in the Lantern Inn, with your pony nameSo other ponies can read it and find you for a storyOne day, or until you take it down or delete your pony
Your friends and friend lettersFor the friends list and visitingUntil you or they end the friendship, or a pony is deleted
Your last 50 chat messages and phrasesSo moderators can check what was really said when someone is reportedOlder lines are replaced as you chat; all of it goes when you delete your pony
Moderator actions on your pony (kicks, mutes, bans, with the reason)Fair and consistent moderationUntil you delete your pony
Reports: who reported whom, the reason, the reported pony's last few messages, where it happened. A reported drawing is included as a picture.Keeping Lumenvale safeAbout 6 months
Feedback you send: your message, pony name, where you were, and your screen size and browser typeFixing bugs and making the game betterAbout 6 months
Daily backup copies of all of the aboveTo recover from a mistake or a broken save14 days
Short technical logs (for example "a new pony joined", errors)Keeping the server runningA few weeks, as the server's logs roll over

To stop people guessing passwords, the server counts wrong login attempts per pony name and per internet address, in memory only, for up to an hour. Your internet address is not saved to your pony.

Drawings in the Doodle Studio are not saved. They disappear when the round ends, unless someone reports one.

What stays in your own browser

Some things are only kept on your device, in your browser's storage: the login key that keeps you logged in (never your password), your pony's look from the creator, your sound settings, your wishes on the Wishing Tree, and whether you have seen the welcome. We don't use cookies. Clearing your browser's site data removes these; you can log in again with your pony name and password.

Who else is involved

We don't sell or share your data with anyone else, and there are no ads, analytics or trackers.

What other players can see

Your pony's name, look, character (title, status, pronouns and bio) and what you say in chat, while you're nearby. Friends can see which place you're in. Nobody, including us, can see your password or recovery code.

Your rights, and deleting your pony

You can ask what we have saved about you, have it corrected, or have it deleted. The quickest way to delete everything is in the game: Settings → Delete my pony. It removes your pony and everything saved on it straight away. It also takes you off your friends' lists. Copies in the daily backups disappear within 14 days.

Reports you were part of are kept for about 6 months for safety reasons, and messages already posted in our Discord channel stay until a moderator removes them. For anything else, use Feedback in the game. If you're in the EU and think we got something wrong, you can also contact your country's data protection authority.

Changes

If we change what we save, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
